Notes on The Critique of Poetry, written by Huang Kan during his time at Peking University, is a famous work in modern intellectual history. However, scholars know little about its entire contents and relevant circumstances. Huang Kan published A Commentary on The Critique of Poetry earlier, which was never included in the anthology, catalogue and chronicle of his works. Prior to Notes on The Critique of Poetry, the commentary will explain such issues as academic origin, purpose of the study, re- search perspective, personal interests and teaching method in Huang Kan＇s study of The Critique of Poet- ry. Huang Kan planned to annotate the whole book, but failed to finish it. Even so Notes on The Critique of Poetry provides ground -breaking insights for researches on The Critique of Poetry.
