Teacher education in China is transforming. The traditional system of teacher preparation is gradually collapsing. However, a new system of teacher education has not yet been formed. Professor Mingyuan Gu is the Honorary President of Chinese Educational Society, Chair of the Expert Committee of Teacher Education and the founder of comparative education in China. He is a senior professor in Beijing Normal University and has worked in the field of Chinese teacher education for more than sixty years. He witnesses, engages and studies the changes and development of Chinese teacher education. In this interview, Professor Mingyuan Gu states his recognition of the history, current situation and trends of the development in teacher education in China.
